Question 1

What is Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST)?

Accepted Answer

Unlike traditional stretching, FST is pain-free and works with your body's natural responses to gently release restrictions and downregulate the nervous system. FST sessions at Epicenter Bodywork are fully clothed and also incorporate muscle energy techniques and Asian acupressure.

Question 2

What's the difference between deep tissue and relaxation massage?

Accepted Answer

Deep tissue massage uses medium to deep pressure to target specific areas of muscle tension, adhesions, and knots. It's ideal when you need relief from chronic pain or tightness. Relaxation massage uses lighter, flowing strokes designed to calm the nervous system and reduce overall stress. Both are fully customizable to your comfort level — just let Gabe know your preferences before the session.

Question 3

How long has Gabe been practicing massage therapy?

Accepted Answer

Gabe has been practicing massage and bodywork for over 20 years. He also holds a NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) certification and is a Level 3 Fascial Stretch Therapy practitioner.

Question 4

Does deep tissue massage hurt?

Accepted Answer

Deep tissue massage should not be painful. While you may feel firm pressure in areas of tension, Gabe communicates with you throughout the session and adjusts pressure to keep you comfortable. Some tenderness in worked areas for a day or two afterward is normal and a sign your body is responding to the treatment.
